In the realm of artistic endeavor, a mesmerizing sand animation music video has been meticulously crafted frame by frame. Executed by a collaborative effort of 20 students enrolled in the MA Visual Effects and Animation program at AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi (2023–25), this creative venture unfolded under the adept guidance of Dr. Atul Sinha, a distinguished Senior Assistant Professor at AJK MCRC, renowned for his expertise as an animator, puppeteer, and sand artist.
The students dedicatedly embarked on the animation process, employing sand as their unique artistic medium. The chosen canvas for their creativity was the iconic song "Brain Damage" by Pink Floyd. This ambitious project required the painstaking capture of approximately 5000 frames, each contributing to the visual narrative of the animated short music video.
The production timeline spanned four weeks, marked by immersive 11- to 12-hour shifts. The initial four days were devoted to intense brainstorming sessions and meticulous storyboarding, laying the foundation for the subsequent animated music video. To ensure a comprehensive and nuanced portrayal of the song, it was strategically divided into five distinct parts. Each segment was then animated on separate tables, with groups of students collaborating seamlessly to bring their artistic vision to life.
The result is a harmonious blend of artistic expression, technical skill, and collaborative effort, encapsulated in a sand animation music video that pays homage to the musical brilliance of Pink Floyd's "Brain Damage."
